Letter from Sam to Family
This week went by super fast! It was awesome!!! On Wednesday we had Roberto's baptism and it went so good! Hah Elder Hew Len was teasing me because I was stressing out about everything. It was like 5:50 and the baptism was at 6 and no one was there! Then people started showing up but the person giving a talk and the kid playing the piano weren't there. They finally showed up at like 6:05. Everything went really well after that. There were like 30 people there so that was cool. The talks were really good and the spirit was really strong. I had the opportunity to do the baptism so that was really cool, I had never baptized someone before. I also got to do the confirmation yesterday, that was a little scary but really cool too. I don't really remember much of what I said but I do remember telling him that he would one day serve a mission too! I cant wait to see what this kid does in life he is awesome!
We had a really cool experience yesterday when we went and saw evon. Last time we saw him right as we were leaving I promised him that if he read the book of mormon every aspect of his life would improve. He said yesterday that he thought a lot about that and how that was a pretty bold promise so he tried it and he said he started seeing miracles! He said everything has been going better since he started reading! It's things like that that make everything worth it! I love being a missionary!!!!!
Well I'm out of time sorry.
Love

Letter from Sam to Dad
Hey Dad,
Sounds like you had a fun trip. The weather has been pretty nice down here in Texas, it's pretty great.
It's pretty crazy how the mission changes you. Before I left I could barely get myself to read the scriptures for ten minutes now breakfast lunch dinner and study time don't seem like near enough time to read! I want to read the pearl of great price but by the time I finish studying out of the book of mormon and the new testament I am out of time. The story of the end of the nephites is pretty sad. It's crazy how people can go from being so good to so bad. I love the story of Alma going to teach the Zoramites because they have strayed so far and he knows it's going to be rough but they go anyway and trust in the Lord and know it will bring them happiness.
There is a guy in my ward here that baptized coach viafinua's wife. Isn't that crazy. Small world.
My bishop is from Cedar too and his daughter is playing tennis for dixie state.
Hey I was wondering if you could send me my priesthood lineage or whatever it is called. I hope everything keeps going well for you!
Love,
Elder Johnson

Hi Sam,
Another week has flown by. Last night your mom and I went to a missionary training meeting. The focus was using ward councils to do more with missionary work. It was a good meeting and motivated us to be better missionaries.
I turning into the great American wilderness camper. We took 6 of the boys from the school on a camp out Thursday and Friday. It was fun and the boys were pretty good. They are always a little rough in language, but over all they were pretty good.
We fix these all in one dutch oven meals that are pretty good. The only thing we take for the boys to eat out of is a tin cup. It is always pretty interesting. We don't even bring them a spoon or fork. They either have to make a spoon or eat their food out of the cup or on a tortilla.
It has turned off pretty cold and actually froze up where we were camping on Little Creek. Didn't go to well with the boys as they had 50 degree rated sleeping bags and the temperature got down into the low 30's. They all froze. I took my -50 sleeping bag so I slept as snug as a bug in a rug.
We told the boys we weren't going to do any hiking, because they complain when we say that, so we told them we were going on some walks. One was for 3 hours and the other was for about 4. They kept telling us we were hiking not on a walk. Anyway they all survived it.
On Saturday they had a clay pidgon shoot out at the fair ground for Priest. Two of mine priest were all I could get to sign up and when it came down to it they didn't show. I went and was able to round up one Teacher and his dad. We went out and had a blast, no pun intended.
BYU whipped Mississippi State this week in football. They overpowered them with the run. Still can't pass. Still not happy with the loss to Utah, but we have moved on with that. The BYU fan base was not happy about it either.
Well, got to get to work. Have a great week. I'm reading the final destruction of the Nephites in the Book of Mormon. All they had to do was come unto Christ and they would have been spared. Sounds so simple, but Satan is pretty powerful and crafty. Missionary work is what keeps us from becoming like the Nephites so keep working hard. Look the part and act the part and be the part of Christ army.
Love Dad.
