From Sam to Family
Crazy Texas weather update: Saturday March 1, 2014- 82 degrees and sunny with a nice little breeze to keep the humidity down :) Sunday March 2, 2014- 19 degrees and cloudy with an icy cold breeze and freezing rain and hail! Beware of icy roads! You never know what you're going to have to prepare for here in Texas either heat stroke or frost bite!
Things have been going pretty fantastic here :) We set a baptismal date with a guy this week and he seems pretty solid so we are excited for him! His name is Alan :) The only bad part is he is 19 so we had to pass him off to the ysa elders. They are the assistants to the president so he should be in good hands :)
We are still working with the Mountcastles and Anthony is excited to get baptized :) I think I've talked about them before, they are a part member/less active family. I like them a lot :) We just got to get them to understand that church is way more satisfying than sleeping! Hah they're coming along though, we got an awesome fellowship set up with them so hopefully that will get it moving.
Elder Carter got sick one day so I left him at a members house and went out with another member. It was pretty fun :) He is all better now :) Transfers are this week! Craziness! It seems like we just had transfers.
And the news is.............. I'm staying in Roanoke! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!! But Elder Carter is leaving :'( He is going to Waco. That should be fun for him :) He is walking into 6 baptismal dates so that'll be nice :)
I'm excited to meet my new companion! It's always fun :) All of my companions have been so different, but I've loved them all!! The Lord is either blessing me with really great companions or a greater capacity to love :) Probably both :)
That's pretty much all of the excitement for this week. At least that I can remember :) I'm sure I'll think of something the moment I send this hah.
Well I hope everyone has a fantastic week full of missionary opportunities and that you jump on those opportunities!!
Love,
Elder Johnson

Not ready for baptism yet but getting close!! We have high hopes for Roanoke :) They'll come along :)
From Dad to Sam
Hi Sam,
I'm running late today. forgot to write last night. Things are going good here. We had a special fast for moisture yesterday, but it rained Friday and a little Saturday. There is no snow in the mountains so it could be a long dry summer.
BYU update. BYU clinched 2nd place in the West coast conference tournament. I think if they win one game they will make the tournament. If they don't, it will be iffy. The NIT might be better anyway since they will get to play more games.
The big news is that Jimmer finally got out of Sacramento and is now playing for the Bulls. I guess every Mormon in the world will now be a Bulls fan.
I guess nothing to notable happened this week, because I can't think of anything else to tell you. Keep working hard. Do you have anyone ready for baptism yet? Hope some of those investigators come through.
Love Dad.
